Kidscan says thanks

May 16, 2017

Kidscan has written to the Guild to thank us for our ongoing support. In a letter dated 19th October, Scientific Director, Dr David Pye said:

“I just wanted to write to you personally to express my gratitude for the support that the Caravan Writers’ Guild gives to Kidscan and to explain how some of the money you raised last year has been spent, in excess of £6,600 I believe. This year Kidscan introduced a new grant scheme called a “pump priming project grant”.

These awards (up to £10K) enable researchers from around the UK to explore very new and novel areas of research into childhood cancer. Without this type of grant new and emerging treatments for children’s cancer could be lost, delayed by years or never make it into the clinic.

The awards this year, which your organisation has contributed to, may well flourish in later years to become world leading treatments for cancer. However, none of this would be possible without the early injection of research funding that is provided by organisations like yourselves.”

The Guild also receives a special mention on Kidscan’s website.
