Bladon, Stuart
About / Bio
A well known motoring and caravan journalist of 60 years standing, Stuart thinks he might retire soon. We're not so sure. During his long career he has road tested thousands of cars. In his later years he often found a way of putting his trusty Avondale on the back so he could report on that too. He was deputy editor of Autocar magazine for 26 years up to 1981. During this time he set a new staff speed record of 172mph driving a Lamborghini Miura in Italy. The record held for many years.
On leaving Autocar magazine Stuart went freelance, joining the Caravan Writers' Guild a few years later. Stuart has written no less than 16 books during his illustrious career as well as being a judge at the Earls Court caravan shows and a regular supporter of Guild events.

Chapman, Val
About / Bio
Val is Editor of Park and Holiday Home Inspiration Magazine and Test Editor for Caravan Magazine. She is also a video presenter for Warners Group Publications PLC.
Val joined Warners in 2005, with a background in editing and sales management – including two years as a caravan salesperson! Val found it great fun and learned a huge amount at the 'coalface' of our industry.
And if she thought she learned a lot while selling tourers nothing could prepare her for the gigantic learning curve that the exciting advent of video has brought to us all. Val finds it enormously enjoyable, hugely challenging and not without its adrenalin element. Video presenting and voice-overs on caravan subjects are an expanding element of her work.

Donnelly, Nigel
About / Bio
Every family holiday Nigel had up to the age of 18 was in a succession of family caravans, so he was better placed than most young writers to end up in this market. In 2003, after spells at Emap Active, Turret Rai and Incisive Media, Nigel and his wife threw in their jobs, bought a £1000 camper van and headed off on an 11k mile, four-month tour of Europe. On their return, he was thrilled to accept a job on Practical Motorhome. He moved to Practical Caravan in 2006, becoming editor in October 2007. Nigel still takes the majority of his holidays in a caravan. Away from the touring field, Nigel supports West Ham United, owns a 1969 Morris 1000 and a cat called Pinky Baggins.

Hackney-Williams, Ben
About / Bio
Having spent countless childhood hours building dens and doing keepie-uppies on caravan sites in Norfolk and around the UK, it felt natural to join Caravan magazine and celebrate all things related to the hobby into adulthood, too. Caravanning fuelled my love for the outdoors and it instigated a passion for an active lifestyle that is still strong today.
Work-wise, my background is on local press and national automotive titles and I have a BA (Hons) in journalism. I'm a former editor of Park & Holiday Home Inspiration magazine, and handled the digital outlets of Caravan magazine, whether that was news, feature articles, social media or just being part of the community. It’s an industry I love being a part of.

Harris, Andrew
About / Bio
Andy has been involved with motorhomes and caravans for 12 years or so in various roles. These include helping to run RoadPro Ltd, which specialises in supplying 12V products to motorhomers and caravanners, writing about technical subjects and helping with technical enquiries for the Caravan Club. Since 2011 he has also worked with the Caravan Channel TV show as a presenter.
All these things keep Andy busy but, when he does have any spare time he enjoys cycling round London, kayaking on the Thames & spending time in his company motorhome on the pretext of testing products. Andy lives in a house in Peckham, a narrowboat near Daventry and a Laika motorhome wherever he happens to park. (He used to live in a Citroen 2CV, so this is a definite step-up).

Bought his first motor caravan at the tender age of 24, so his final destiny as Deputy Editor of The Caravan Club Magazine, where he spent the last 25 years, specialising in testing motorhomes, is hardly surprising. He previously spent six years on Custom Car magazine and three years editing Street Machine magazine, influences which have also lasted, as evidenced by the Dax Cobra and Lancia Aprilia in his garage, the latter being his 'retirement project'. Sootheran, John
About / Bio
Work hard, have fun” is the maxim I live by. Luckily, I’ve always had jobs where these two aims weren’t mutually exclusive. I trained as a photographer, joining Practical Photography mag in 1992; moved to lads’ car mag, Max Power, in ’96; became International Editor for Emap in 2007, and spent a year at The Economist in 2010 (though commuting was no fun whatsoever). Finally, the roller-coaster brought me to Caravan mag, where, as a novice caravanner, I’ve embraced this brilliant hobby which combines my two favourite things in the world: travel and my family. At Caravan, I’ve tried to focus on the five ‘f’s: freedom, family, friends, fun and errrm… fantastic photography. We just aim to make people smile.

Baber, Peter
About / Bio
Peter is the Reviews editor for Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome. He says "I started off in journalism as a staff writer for Practical Caravan for three years back in the early 1990s. After 20+ years in business journalism writing about everything from town planning and waste management to high fashion, and editing a number of glossy business magazines I decided I needed a change. I realised what I missed most of all was the enjoyment of going caravanning or motor-caravanning on the open road. I missed the excitement of stepping into a new model for the first time, trying to work out how it would help you and other caravanners enjoy such a lifestyle to the full. So here I am!

Chapman, Richard
About / Bio
Having worked in the entertainment industry for 10 years I have seen and been part of all manner of holidays. It’s given me a broad¬spectrum view of the way people value their leisure time; experience which I’m now translating into the caravan arena. Seeking a new challenge, I decided to come back to my caravanning roots. I passed my B+E exam in October 2014 and I’m looking for opportunities to use it. I’m a writer, photographer, with plenty of experience, also, in presenting (both live and video) and voice¬-over work. It seems I’m also a caravan awards judge; The Caravan Club invited me to join it's judging team for the 2015 model year awards. Quite an honour.
