Light at the end of the tunnel

It looks like the dark days of Covid 19 are slowly coming to an end, although it could be some time before things return to normal. The Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show makes a welcome return to the NEC on 22nd February with various regional shows set to go ahead subsequently. To minimise the spread of Covid there will be no Guild room at the show this year and our overdue AGM will be held by Zoom on 3rd March. Nevertheless, we look forward to seeing you there.

Lockdowns and other restrictions have severely impacted the Guild’s activities for the last two years but we have managed to complete some training via Zoom. The situation will be kept under review. Face to face activities will return as soon as it is safe and sensible to do so.

Sadly the ‘Lawns Show’, which moved to Harrogate from Hull two years ago, but never actually made it because of Covid 19, will not go ahead this year. Organisers HERCMA (Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Caravan Manufacturers’ Association), citing the need for the industry to ‘focus on pressing priorities during a time of continuing uncertainty.’

On the plus side, sales of caravans and motorhomes are booming as punters realise they are the basis of the perfect socially distanced staycation.
