Visit to Ludlow Touring Park and Salop Leisure

June 2013

The Guild receives some interesting and valued invitation from other organisations within the industry. It was one of these which saw us make a return trip to Salop Leisure, last visited in 2006, shortly after the opening of their new £5M showroom and service centre on the A5 just outside Shrewsbury.

Since then the site has expanded and now covers some 18 acres and includes a brand new plant centre. Salop's research has shown that plant lovers like caravan and vice versa. We were all very impressed with what we saw.

After lunch (provided by Salop) we were treated to some excellent video tuition from their AV provider, 7video. The workshop was very well received and highlighted a clear demand for this type of training.

We stayed at the new Ludlow Touring Park, courtesy of owners, Morris Leisure. It's a lovely that opened in May 2012 providing 135 much needed pitches in this popular tourist area. As well as visiting Salop during our three day stay our tour bus also took us to Shrewsbury and Blists Hill working museum, near Ironbridge. Shrewsbury's town crier turned out specially to meet us. You can't miss him, he must be nearly seven feet tall! The policeman at Blists Hill was also pretty tall, towering over Clive Mott, as the photo below right shows.
