October dinner 2014

The CWG industry dinner once again attracted a capacity attendance of writers and other industry personnel. It was the first since the passing of Guild Secretary Douglas King and former Chairman Nigel Rosser. We were therefore delighted to be able to welcome Doug's widow, Brenda King, to the event and to present her with a bouquet of flowers.

The dinner was also the first for Terry Owen in his new post as Chairman who announced Kidscan as his chosen charity. It's aimed at helping children who have cancer and all the money raised is spent on research. The charity already has many success stories, including a new drug that allows healthy cells to take charge of cancerous cells and stop them developing into tumours.

We are delighted to announce that the raffle raised £1115 pounds for Kidscan. Thank you to Robert Louden for once again auctioning a hamper that was kindly handed back by the winner.

The Charity is 'over the moon' at the amount we raised and hope to be able to send a representative to the next dinner in February.
