Going Dutch

In June a party of 22 Guild journalists and their partners visited Holland (by which we mean the Netherlands) for a press familiarisation tour.  The relatively compact size of Holland meant we could undertake the tour from just one location thus saving valuable time moving camp.

The decision to stay at Camping Koningshof in Rijnsburg was an easy one, site owner Philip (Flip) Kromhout having been a Guild supporter for many years. It all started with the late Guild Member, Reg Batchelor, who helped to promote Camping Koningshof in the UK press many years ago.

Flip was of enormous help in organising the tour. He took care of all the communications with the coach company and arranged three fabulous days out for our party.

The long ordered good weather duly arrived on time and remained with us for the duration of our 10 day stay. Apparently it broke just after we left so someone must have been smiling on us - perhaps it was dear old Reg!

Our tour was a mix of tourist type activities interspersed with visits to campsites, OEM manufacturers and dealers. On eight out of the 10 days we were wafted round in luxury coaches provided by the local coach company. One was brand new whilst another was so luxurious it was nicknamed the 'Royal Coach'.
