February dinner a sell out

The invitations went out on 5th January and one week later the dinner was already 80% full. Two weeks after that we had a waiting list, such was the demand for places at this unique event. When the night came, an outbreak of man-flu (no ladies were affected) resulted in some last minute phone calls to those on the waiting list.

The excellent dining facilities at Stonebridge Golf Club once again played host to our guests with more than 90 people tucking in to an excellent meal provided by the resident chef and his team.

In his address Guild Chairman, Barry Norris, praised the work of the NCC in helping to raise standards across the industry. The response was given by BCA’s commercial director Gordon King who said that talk of his retirement was slightly premature. He hoped to keep working until the end of 2014!

A toast was raised to the Guild and to Doug & Brenda King, who were unable to be present because of Doug’s illness.

The Chairman’s charity raffle raised £833 for his chosen charity Alzheimer’s Research UK. First prize was won by Ben Lane from Discover Touring magazine. He opted to take the mystery prize of a ‘bog in a bag’. The less said about that the better!
